ORLANDO, Fla. — The ongoing legal proceedings concerning the double homicide that occurred late last month saw 15-year-old Niko Brown appear before an Orange County judge once again over the weekend.

Brown is the youngest among a group of individuals implicated in the fatal shootings of a 6-year-old child and a 19-year-old adult. The younger victim has been identified as Ajahilyah Hashim and the older victim as Isaiyah Wright.

Tragically, the violent event, which unfolded on Poppy Avenue, not only claimed two lives but also resulted in injuries to the young girl’s mother.

While Brown and three other teenagers are currently in custody with charges leveled against them, authorities continue their manhunt for 21-year-old Tyrik Nichols, another individual suspected to have a role in the crime.

Brown, faced with two counts of second-degree murder alongside an attempted felony murder charge, was not granted bail in the recent hearing, with the court scheduling another hearing to take place on Tuesday.

The other individuals implicated, identified as 18-year-old Ricky Raymond Bowery Jr., 17-year-old Brandon Picket, and Kny Adams, face first-degree murder charges. The group, including Brown, allegedly have their actions recorded in surveillance footage, which shows them engaging in the shooting and later abandoning Wright at Health Central's emergency room entrance.

As the community reels from the loss, law enforcement is endeavoring to piece together the full scope of the gang-related violence that led to this tragic incident, a journey to justice that remains very much active and ongoing.
