Trial Looms for Two Charged in Death of 6-Month-Old Hit by Stray Bullet in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A metro Atlanta mother, whose 6-month-old baby was tragically killed by a stray bullet, may soon see justice as a trial for the two suspects is just weeks away.

Kerri Gray, mother of Grayson Matthew Fleming-Gray, who was fatally shot in January 2022, spoke to Channel 2 Action News just days after the incident. Now, more than three years later, Gray reflects on the heartache of losing her son.

“That little boy will never leave my heart, literally and physically,” Gray said, emotionally recalling the tragedy.

She still struggles with the circumstances leading to Grayson’s death, questioning the intent behind the shooting: “There is only one question that can be answered: ‘Did you pull the trigger on purpose?’” Gray explained. “My car was a different color, a different shape, a different size. There was no mistaking me for the person they were after.”

Kerri Gray hopes to find some resolution when the trial begins for Dequasie Little and Sharice Ingram, the two individuals charged in connection with her son’s death. They were initially indicted, and further charges were brought, linking them to a street gang.

Court records show numerous changes in legal representation and judicial assignments, which have delayed the trial, but it appears the case is finally heading toward a courtroom.
