4 arrested after Chicago cops see gunmen firing into a crowd on a West Side street

CHICAGO — Following an incident where Chicago police officers witnessed three individuals unleashing gunfire towards a gathering on the West Side, four men have been incarcerated pending trial. Fortunately, the shooting did not inflict any injuries.


The event unfolded as officers, stationed in their squad car on assignment near the 700 block of North Lavergne, observed a stolen Nissan Murano halting in the middle of the street around 2 p.m. on Friday.According to arrest reports detailed in the case, individuals inside the Nissan, armed with two pistols and an "AR pistol style weapon," commenced firing at a congregation assembled in a vacant lot situated on the southwest corner of Chicago Avenue and Lavergne, all while under the surveillance of law enforcement.


Subsequently, all three assailants retreated to the Nissan, which hastily departed as officers broadcasted descriptions and initiated pursuit. The pursuit culminated in a collision with another vehicle, followed by the Nissan crashing into a pole.Prosecutors stated that three men who fled from the Nissan, identified as Alexander Daye, Corshun Williams, and Eugene Davenport, all 18 years old, were apprehended nearby. The driver, 19-year-old Jeramy Pryor, was arrested inside the vehicle with an AR-style pistol in close proximity, according to his arrest report.


Police officers disclosed the recovery of two pistols and two AR-style pistols from the wrecked car. Consequently, all four individuals are facing charges of Class X aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Pryor additionally faces charges of possessing a stolen motor vehicle and aggravated fleeing.Judge Susana Ortiz has ordered their detention until further proceedings.
