A shooting in Southeast, D.C. on Friday night resulted in eight people being shot, including a 12-year-old girl, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The shooting occurred in two different locations that were approximately half a mile apart from each other.

The first shooting took place at the 500 block of Lebaum Street, SE shortly after 10 p.m., where seven adult male victims were injured with gunshot wounds. The majority of these victims were able to transport themselves to nearby hospitals.

The second shooting occurred at a different location, where a 12-year-old girl was found with a gunshot wound to her lower extremities. Thankfully, she is expected to survive and is in stable condition. All injuries from the shooting are not life-threatening.

Police suspect that the two shootings are connected and are searching for a black sedan, possibly a Mercedes, that witnesses say was involved in the shooting. According to Metropolitan PD Assistant Chief Andre Wright, the vehicle "drove through the block and indiscriminately fired upon" several people.

Currently, there are no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
