In the Dominican Republic, authorities have arrested six men in connection to the shooting and attempted robbery of a 9-year-old boy from the Bronx, Gioser Luis Féliz. Gioser and his father were in Santiago visiting family for a six-day trip during spring break when they were met by a driver at Cibao International Airport. The driver refused to stop when the vehicle was swarmed by a group of robbers, who then opened fire, hitting Gioser in the head. He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately did not survive.

Five men were arrested the following day and were due to appear in court. The suspects were identified as residents of the Cienfuegos section of Santiago, and a sixth man was also arrested in connection with the shooting. Police have detained five women for investigative purposes, and are still looking for the murder weapon while continuing their investigation. Gioser's body is being prepared for transportation back to the United States, while his father remains in the Dominican Republic seeking answers.
