Authorities are searching for two inmates who escaped from the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center on Sunday evening, including one who was being held on multiple murder charges. Surveillance footage shows the individuals cutting a hole in a fence at the facility before fleeing. The escapees have been identified as Ameen Hurst, 18, and Nasir Grant, 24. Hurst was being held on several murder charges, including the killing of Rodney Hargrove just hours after he was released from another correctional facility. Grant was being held on gun and narcotics violations.
The facility only became aware of the escape during a headcount at 3 p.m. the following day. It is unclear how the inmates managed to escape undetected. The city of Philadelphia and the U.S. Marshal's Service are offering rewards of $20,000 and $5,000, respectively, for information leading to the arrest of each suspect. Officials are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the inmates to contact the police tip line at 215-546-TIPS or call 911 immediately.
