Armed Robbery Spree Hits Bucktown, Multiple Victims Targeted in 30-Minute Crime Wave

CHICAGO — A crime spree in Bucktown late Wednesday night left at least five victims robbed at gunpoint by a crew of armed suspects. Chicago police have not made any arrests in connection with the series of robberies that unfolded over the course of just 30 minutes.

The spree began around 11:25 p.m. near Charleston and Leavitt, when a man heading to work was approached by two masked men in a black car. The men robbed him of his backpack, which contained a computer, before fleeing the scene.

Minutes later, around the 1000 block of North Paulina, the suspects targeted another woman, stealing her bag. However, this time, the bag contained only a gym towel, shoes, and a water bottle.

A third incident occurred shortly after at Western and Medill, where a man was approached by a suspect who got out of a black sedan, brandished a firearm, and demanded his wallet. The victim was able to avoid the robbery, continuing on to a nearby bar without filing a report.

In the 2000 block of West Ohio, two armed robbers tried to carjack another victim after he exited his vehicle. They took his valuables but failed to steal his car. A witness captured photos of the getaway car and shared them on the Ring network.

The final robbery took place around 11:40 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Grand, where two armed men stole a victim’s wallet before fleeing in a black car.

While the victims provided varying descriptions, many described one of the robbers as a tall Black male, approximately 6’2”, and the other as a Hispanic male, around 5’10”. Both men were reported to have worn dark clothing.
