Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Atlanta
ATLANTA — Atlanta police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Saturday morning.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 2470 Cheshire Bridge Road NE just before 8 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services arrived but pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide investigators were called to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Later that day, officers responded to a criminal trespass call at 2350 Cheshire Bridge Road NE. During the response, one officer identified the trespassing suspect as Malik Jones, the individual suspected of being involved in the earlier homicide.
Jones was immediately arrested, and police recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. He was taken to police headquarters for questioning by homicide investigators.
The investigation is ongoing, and murder charges against Jones are pending.
