Chicago Police Renew Efforts to Solve Missing Person Case from 2021

CHICAGO — Chicago police are reissuing a missing person alert in hopes of finding answers in the case of Cheretha Morrison, a woman who vanished nearly four years ago.

Morrison, who was 38 years old at the time, disappeared on February 26, 2021. That morning, she dropped her daughter off at school in the 2000 block of West 62nd Street. Shortly after, she was reportedly last seen driving her silver 2006 Porsche Cayenne in the 6900 block of South Throop Street, according to an updated bulletin from the Chicago Police Department.

When Morrison failed to pick up her daughter after school, administrators contacted her family, sparking concerns.

Car Found, But Few Clues

Three days after her disappearance, Morrison’s car was located in the 7400 block of North Winchester Avenue in Rogers Park. Authorities continue to hold the vehicle, but it has yet to yield significant leads.

At the time of her disappearance, Morrison was nearly four months pregnant. Family members revealed she had argued with someone over the phone the day before she went missing. Friends described her as being in a “toxic” relationship, though police have not named any suspects or indicated whether foul play is suspected.

Description of Morrison

Morrison was 4’11” tall and weighed 140 pounds. She has brown eyes, a piercing on the right side of her lower lip, and several distinctive tattoos:

• A large heart with “Cheryl” inside and “R.I.P” above it on her left upper arm

• The word “Glorious” on her left forearm

• A large rose on her right upper arm

• The name “Rita” on the right side of her neck

Investigation Continues

The CPD’s Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation. They encourage anyone with information about Morrison’s disappearance to come forward.
