A news team from Univision Chicago was held up at gunpoint on Monday while covering a recent spate of armed robberies in the city, according to officials. A reporter and a photographer from the Spanish-language station were in Chicago's West Town area around 5 a.m. CDT when they were confronted by three individuals donning ski masks and brandishing firearms.

Local station WFLD-TV noted that the assailants also rummaged through the news crew's SUV. Univision Chicago's Vice President of News, Luis Godinez, said that the thieves primarily took personal belongings and a camera.

Neither the reporter nor the photographer were harmed during the incident, as per the Chicago Sun-Times. The news crew had been investigating a series of armed robberies in Chicago, including a carjacking that occurred on the same block where they were accosted.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Police Department identified the victims as two males, ages 28 and 42. Univision Chicago is withholding their names to maintain their privacy, said Godinez.

"We're doing okay and addressing this as a team," added Godinez.

This marks the second robbery targeting a Chicago television crew this month. A WLS-TV photographer was also robbed and assaulted on August 6 while covering a press event, the station disclosed.
