In Chicago, a man with a concealed carry license fired shots outside the Loyola Red Line station this afternoon after being struck in the face with a glass jar, according to authorities.
Chicago police reported that three men were walking near the 1200 block of West Loyola Avenue when another man approached, instigated a confrontation, pulled a gun, and fired shots in their direction. A 28-year-old was hit in the right hand, and a 24-year-old in the right arm. Both were reported to be in stable condition.
The concealed carry license holder was detained shortly afterward, police confirmed.
However, Alderman Maria Hadden (49th Ward) shared a different account on Facebook, saying two men began arguing near the Loyola station, during which one threw a glass jar, hitting the other in the face.
The man who was struck, a licensed gun carrier, then drew his firearm and fired at the other individual. Hadden added that the man with the hand injury actually cut himself on a fence, rather than being shot.
