A couple in southeastern Alabama is now facing charges after the discovery of their teenage son's "severely decomposed" body, which was found inside a freezer behind a home in Henry County, as reported by various sources.

The body, tentatively identified as 19-year-old Logan Michael Halstead, was located in Headland on a Sunday, according to Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship, as detailed by WTVY. The exact circumstances and time of Halstead's death remain unclear, with his body having been sent for autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, as reported by the Dothan Eagle.

Sheriff Blankenship stated, "This incident is a very tragic situation, and our agency is committed to finding out the truth," as cited by WTVY. He also noted that the investigation is ongoing, with further information being released as the case progresses.

The authorities have taken into custody Michael Shane Halstead, 44, and Karen Tysinger Halstead, 43, each charged with one count of abuse of a corpse, according to WDHN. Both are presently held without bond at the Henry County Jail.

Sources informed WDHN that the discovery of Logan Halstead's body occurred shortly after the Halsteads had sold the residence where the teenager's remains were found and subsequently moved. However, it remains unclear when this relocation took place.

The investigation into this tragic situation continues, with authorities diligently working to uncover more details.
