EL MONTE, Calif. — A woman is facing charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing her own mother to death in a home on Ranchito Road near Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte, as announced by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
The accused, Kimberly Monique Gonzalez, aged 25, is alleged to have used a knife to carry out the fatal attack on her mother, Jacqueline Perez, during an incident that took place on a Sunday evening.
Law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of the victim, who was 44 years old, at the residence, and subsequently took her daughter into custody. There were reports indicating that the victim may have been decapitated, with AIR7 HD footage suggesting that detectives were examining a head at the crime scene.
Although the investigators have refrained from revealing the details of the events leading up to the violence, it has been reported by friends of the suspect that she was grappling with drug-related issues.
Kimberly Monique Gonzalez is currently being held with bail set at $2 million. If she is found guilty, she could potentially face a life sentence in prison.
