His wife, Tracy Underwood, made the shocking discovery around 9:30 p.m. when she returned home and noticed that his patrol car was still parked in the driveway, despite him being scheduled for duty. According to reports, Lt. Underwood's lifeless body was found in the creek shortly after his wife alerted authorities.


Oconee County Sheriff James Hale spoke to WSB, stating that the official cause of death, as determined by the coroner, will be recorded as drowning. The sheriff urged the community to keep Lt.
