A Louisiana woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for her involvement in the murder of 5-year-old Cairo Ammar Jordan from Atlanta. Jordan's body was discovered in a suitcase in Washington County, Indiana, last year, near Louisville, Kentucky. The autopsy revealed that the boy died due to an electrolyte imbalance, likely caused by gastroenteritis leading to dehydration.
Despite never being reported missing, investigators eventually identified Cairo with the help of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The boy's mother, Dejaune Ludie Anderson, is wanted on a murder charge, along with neglect of a dependent and obstruction of justice. Dawn Elaine Coleman, another woman involved, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and received a 30-year prison sentence, with five years suspended to probation.
Both Coleman and Anderson's fingerprints were found on black plastic bags used to encase the boy's body within the suitcase. Coleman admitted to witnessing Anderson lying on top of Cairo, who was face down on a bed, and assisting in placing him into a trash bag and then the suitcase. The two women, who had known each other for about a year, had been traveling extensively with Cairo and were staying together in a Louisville home.
