Man Arrested in Connection with Disappearance and Murder of Fayetteville Woman

North Carolina authorities have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the disappearance and murder of Heather Williams, a 25-year-old woman from Fayetteville.

Williams was reported missing on January 4 after she was last seen getting into a light-colored, four-door sedan around 10 p.m. near Berkshire Road, according to the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD).

On January 10, six days after her disappearance, Williams was found deceased in a wooded area near Newark Avenue and State Avenue.

The FPD Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested and charged Tyrell Jaquez Siermons, 30, with first-degree murder in connection to Williams’ death.

Siermons, who has an extensive criminal record in Cumberland County, was on probation at the time of the alleged crime. His prior charges include attempted first-degree murder, attempted kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony possession of a firearm, and other offenses dating back to 2011.

Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between Siermons and Williams but stated that the vehicle Williams was last seen entering led them to identify him as a suspect.

Williams’ family revealed she had a cognitive impairment stemming from a 2015 accident in which she was hit by a car. Her sister, Mary Williams, told local media she contacted a man from Heather’s phone records, who admitted to meeting Heather on Facebook and later acknowledged the car that picked her up matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle.

Siermons is being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
