COLUMBUS, Miss. (TTRTV) – A man dressed in religious attire and claiming to be Jesus Christ has been arrested and charged with breaking into two local churches.
The individual identified as Deshon O'Neal is facing charges of burglary, as well as disorderly conduct.
According to the Columbus Police Department (CPD), law enforcement officers received a call on June 6 regarding a suspicious person at a hotel.
Upon arrival, officers encountered O'Neal, who was reportedly donning a white robe with several others hung on a nearby fence.
During questioning, O'Neal allegedly confessed to stealing the robes and shockingly declared himself to be Jesus Christ. He claimed that his motivation for breaking into the churches was rooted in religious purposes.
After further investigation, O'Neal eventually provided his true identity to the authorities.
The charges against O'Neal specifically pertain to the burglaries committed at Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Church of Christ of Columbus.
