A Seffner resident found himself in handcuffs on Tuesday following accusations of attempting to murder four individuals during a violent altercation in Riverview last December.
Darcy Washington, aged 44, was apprehended on Tuesday, facing a litany of charges including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, and three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The incident, as detailed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, unfolded from a verbal dispute that escalated into physical violence on December 20th. At 5:48 p.m., reports flooded in of a shooting at a residence on the 10000 block of Sweet Sapling Street in Riverview.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds, fortunately non-life-threatening. Another person who intervened in the altercation was physically assaulted and targeted with gunfire, narrowly avoiding injury, according to the official statement.
According to the arrest report, an earlier altercation at the residence prompted threats from three women involved in the conflict, vowing to enlist their father's assistance. Subsequently, Washington arrived with a group of individuals in a red Ford Explorer, seeking retribution for his daughter and granddaughter.
As tensions flared, Washington allegedly attacked one of the victims before engaging in a large-scale brawl involving approximately 15 to 20 people. Video evidence captured Washington retrieving a handgun from an associate, after which he brandished the weapon menacingly toward the victims. In a panic, the victims attempted to seek refuge indoors, but Washington fired six shots, injuring three of them.
The victims sustained injuries to their legs and buttocks and were promptly treated at Tampa General Hospital. Deputies recovered six spent 9 mm shell casings from the scene.
As of Thursday, Washington remains detained at Falkenburg Road Jail without bond, as per official records.
