In Jefferson City, Missouri, Rejeane N. Redmon, 27, faces first-degree murder charges following the stabbing death of an 80-year-old man, Melvin Callahan. The incident occurred over the weekend, and Redmon, who is Callahan's stepdaughter and lived with him, was apprehended on Friday in Cole County.
Cole County deputies discovered Callahan's body with multiple stab wounds in his neck and body on the kitchen floor, which appeared to be hastily cleaned with bleach. Redmon, initially claiming to have been in the shower during the incident, presented conflicting stories and appeared to have dry shampoo in her hair, suggesting she wasn't actually showering. She also smelled of bleach and was found near a vehicle containing a cellphone, despite claiming she couldn't call 911 due to not having one.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a bloody knife near Callahan’s residence. Redmon is scheduled for an initial court hearing at 1:30 p.m. Monday and is being held without bond.
