Fatal Shooting Claims Three Lives in Daytona Beach; Suspect in Custody
Daytona Beach, Florida - Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning as a shooting incident unfolded in Daytona Beach, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. At approximately 6:30 a.m., local law enforcement received reports of gunfire near the intersection of Park Drive and South Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Initially, a representative from the Daytona Beach Police Department informed Channel 9 that two men had succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while another victim was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. However, by 8:30 a.m., authorities sadly confirmed the third victim's passing.
According to the police, the shooting suspect, identified as Jerome Anderson, 38, dialed 911 to report that he had just shot someone. Responding officers swiftly arrived at the location, where they found Anderson in possession of a cellphone and a handgun. Law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect without further incident.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Anderson had allegedly targeted and killed his roommate, a neighboring individual, and a transient known to frequent the area. The victims were discovered with gunshot wounds at three separate nearby locations.
Law enforcement officials suspect that Anderson may have also fired at a fourth individual, but they believe the person was unharmed and have yet to locate them.
During interviews with the suspect, Anderson claimed he acted in self-defense. However, authorities have not uncovered any evidence substantiating his claim of self-defense.
As a result, Anderson now faces charges of three counts of first-degree murder, along with possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.
The Daytona Beach community mourns the loss of the three victims, and local authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
