A murder suspect was apprehended on Sunday morning near the Arts District in Las Vegas after allegedly consuming parts of his victim, including an eye and an ear, according to a source cited by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was arrested on a murder charge related to the death of an unnamed man he was reportedly fighting with near the intersection of Las Vegas and Charleston Boulevards. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a"physical altercation" between two men at around 4:45 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South.
When officers arrived, they discovered the two men near the 300 block of East Charleston at South Third Street. One of the men was found unresponsive and bleeding from the head, police reported.
The suspect, identified as Colin Czech, was allegedly eating parts of the victim's body when police encountered him. This included consuming the victim's eye and ear, according to the source. The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Police learned that Czech had "attacked the victim at some point," according to a statement.
He was arrested on a charge of open murder and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, although he was not present at his initial court appearance on Monday afternoon due to being in the hospital.
Justice of the Peace Rebecca Saxe found probable cause for Czech's arrest and ordered him held without bail. The suspect is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
