Chicago Man Faces New Gun Charges After Selling Firearms Online

CHICAGO — A man with two prior gun convictions is now facing additional charges after authorities say he spent months posting firearms for sale on social media.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office secured a search warrant and raided the home of Evans, 25, in Country Club Hills. As officers conducted the raid, Evans allegedly fled out the back door, partially clothed in the cold, according to prosecutors. He was quickly apprehended nearby, holding the keys to a BMW parked in his driveway.

The vehicle’s trunk contained two firearms — a 7.62 Micro Draco and a PAK-9. Inside Evans’ home, investigators found ammunition, three drum magazines, a rifle magazine, over 30 grams of cannabis, and $900 cash, according to court filings.

Judge Mary Marubio ordered Evans’ detention on charges of repeated possession of a firearm by a felon and manufacturing and delivering cannabis. Prosecutors noted Evans’ previous convictions, which include gun charges from 2017 and 2019, as well as misdemeanor escape convictions in 2018 and 2020.
