Chaos Erupts at Long Island Court Hearing for Murder Suspect, Spectator Arrested

LONG ISLAND, NY — A court hearing for Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez, 18, accused of second-degree murder, turned violent on Monday when a spectator, reportedly a relative of the suspect, caused a disruption in the courtroom.

The chaos unfolded after Nassau County Judge ordered Ferrufino-Rodriguez to be held without bail. Following the decision, a young man in the audience repeatedly shouted, “Hold your head up!” at the defendant, according to NBC4.

The outburst led to a physical confrontation as court officers attempted to remove the spectator. The disturbance escalated, requiring at least six officers to subdue and remove the individual, who was eventually charged with contempt, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

The incident followed Ferrufino-Rodriguez’s arrest for the Saturday shooting of 19-year-old Jefferson Mancia-Fernandez in Hempstead, New York. Mancia-Fernandez was reportedly helping his mother move when Ferrufino-Rodriguez, allegedly involved in an ongoing dispute, pulled up in a car and shot him in broad daylight.
