POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – At 18, Khydeeja McBride faced domestic violence charges in Miramar. Now, at 21, she is back in Broward County jail with more severe allegations.
On Wednesday, county court records revealed that prosecutors have charged McBride with a first-degree felony. She was booked by Broward Sheriff's Office deputies on Tuesday, following her arrest by Sunrise police on Monday for two counts of attempted murder.
The arrest report details that the intended victims were two 15-year-old boys, who were unharmed. Officer Natesha Williams noted that surveillance footage captured McBride pursuing a Nissan Rogue, which one of the teens had reportedly taken without his mother's permission.
“The defendant went beyond mere preparation by driving the vehicle that chased the victim’s vehicle throughout the neighborhood while an occupant fired his weapon at the same time,” Williams wrote in the report. “This intentional act could have but did not cause the death of the victims.”
Williams stated that the boy's mother discovered bullet holes in her car and took her son to the police station on May 5 to report the early morning shooting that occurred on May 4. McBride’s accomplice was identified as Jaccari Gethers.
Broward inmate county records show that BSO deputies held McBride without bond on Thursday at the North Broward Bureau in Pompano Beach. Records did not indicate Gethers was in custody.
McBride has a prior arrest record. In 2021, she was accused of attacking a minor in a domestic violence incident in Miramar, but the case was dropped. Court records show that Broward County Circuit Judge George Odom, Jr. is set to oversee McBride’s new case.
Detectives have asked anyone with information about this case or others to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
